Joint investigation uncovers alleged bribery, unauthorised access; suspects handed to ICPC for prosecution.
Five security officers have been detained following a joint investigation into the February 12, 2026, security breach at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) , authorities have confirmed.
The investigation was conducted by the Department of State Services (DSS) , Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) , Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) , and the Federal Ministry of Aviation.

Allegations
Security sources disclosed that the officers are alleged to have:
· Received bribes to facilitate unauthorised entry into restricted areas of the airport
· Obstructed lawful security operations
· Compromised established airport security protocols
Handed to ICPC
The officers have been handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for prosecution.
Administrative Sanctions
Authorities further disclosed that other personnel from the NIS and NCS, whose involvement was found not to be criminal but amounted to abuse of uniform to facilitate unauthorised access, will face administrative sanctions.
