Following recent security challenges and killings in neighboring Yagba West and Yagba East local government areas, the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area (LGA) has declared a dusk-to-dawn curfew. The measure, which takes effect on Monday, September 22, 2025, aims to curb criminal activities and enhance security within the community.
The curfew restricts the movement of motorcycles and individuals from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily. Additionally, all commercial motorcycle operators (Okada riders) and tricycle operators (Keke Napep) are now restricted to operating between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. The movement of persons and goods within the LGA is also limited to the hours of 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
In a public statement, Kabba/Bunu LGA Chairman, Hon. (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of its citizens. He stated that the curfew was a necessary step to prevent the security crisis from escalating within the LGA.
“The responsibility of any government is to secure the lives and properties of its citizens, and I will not stand by and watch criminals continue to perpetrate evil in the local government area,” the Chairman said.
The Chairman has deployed security operatives throughout the LGA to enforce the new order and promised to personally lead operations to flush out criminals from all parts of the community. He called on residents to remain calm and cooperate with the security agencies, noting that the temporary inconvenience is for the greater good of the community.
