Bandit Attack on Oke Ode Repelled by Security Forces
Armed bandits launched an attack on Oke Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State in the early hours of Sunday, creating panic among residents as gunfire echoed across the community.
The attackers reportedly targeted a security camp in the town, but the attempt was successfully repelled by forest guards stationed in the area.
A government source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident.
“The forest guards have firmly repelled some criminals who attempted to wreak havoc on their positions in Oke Ode this Sunday morning. Soldiers are also at the scenes now,” the source disclosed.
Military presence has since been reinforced, with soldiers deployed to strategic locations. In addition, Nigerian Air Force fighter jets were seen patrolling the skies over Oke Ode as part of an aerial operation to track down the fleeing attackers.
Residents have been urged to remain calm as security operatives continue to monitor the situation.
