Ododo, Okpebholo Lead APC to a Peaceful Governorship Primary in Ekiti State

Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully conducted a peaceful and transparent governorship primary election in Ekiti State, with Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) emerging as the party’s candidate ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election.

The exercise, held under the supervision of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, was chaired by the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, assisted by the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, alongside other committee members.

Governor Oyebanji emerged unopposed following the adoption of the Consensus Mode of Primary, after his only challenger in the race formally withdrew and publicly endorsed his candidature.

Ododo Commends Party Unity and Leadership

In his remarks, Governor Ododo commended party stakeholders in Ekiti State for their maturity, unity, and loyalty to the APC, describing the process as a model of internal democracy and cohesion.

“The peaceful and transparent conduct of the exercise is a reflection of the unity and internal democracy that define our great party,” he said. “Nigerians are solidly behind President Tinubu and the APC because of the renewed hope agenda that is already transforming our nation.”

Governor Ododo also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership in building a strong, inclusive political platform that continues to enjoy the trust and confidence of Nigerians.

Oyebanji Pledges Continued Good Governance

In his acceptance speech, Governor Biodun Oyebanji thanked the committee, party leaders, and delegates for their confidence in his leadership and for reaffirming their commitment to continuity and progress in Ekiti State.

He assured members of the APC and residents of Ekiti that his administration would remain focused on delivering good governance, transparency, and sustainable development.

Governor Oyebanji also lauded President Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to fairness and due process, noting that his influence has deepened internal democracy within the APC nationwide.

APC Reaffirms Oyebanji as Governorship Candidate

Following the conclusion of the primary process, the APC formally affirmed Governor Biodun Oyebanji as its governorship candidate for the forthcoming election in Ekiti State.

The successful conduct of the exercise, observers noted, further demonstrates the party’s growing commitment to unity, inclusiveness, and credible democratic practices at all levels.
