The Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd), has cautioned against any attempt to create disunity within Kogi West Senatorial District, describing recent comments made by Senator Sunday Karimi during the Kabba Day celebration as capable of destabilizing the region.
In a statement issued in Lokoja on Tuesday, Commander Omodara emphasized that Kogi West remains united and would not allow political interests to cause division among its people.
“We will not accept what the Senator is trying to do by attempting to destabilize us. What he said in Kabba was enough to set the senatorial district on fire.
We are at the grassroots; let them come back and meet us and see how strong we are. Nobody is going to divide us or make us go against history in Kogi,” Omodara said.
He further reiterated that the three senatorial districts — Kogi East, Kogi Central, and Kogi West — must continue to work together for the peace and development of the state.
“Kogi West was a partner with Kogi East and Kogi Central. No senatorial district in Nigeria or Kogi State can singlehandedly produce a state governor; we just have to partner,” he stressed.
According to the Security Adviser, unity and collaboration remain the foundation for progress in the state.
“With what we have now, and by the grace of God, for the work that is being done and what we can see, we are partnering with other senatorial districts and we are going to get to our destination. We know ourselves in Kogi West,” he added.
Omodara’s remarks come amid growing political movements and alliances ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Kogi State, as stakeholders continue to position for influence across the senatorial districts.
