Okunran community in Yagba West Local Government Area has once again been thrown into panic following a renewed wave of bandit attacks, barely weeks after Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo visited the area and pledged improved security.

According to local reports, the latest incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. today when armed men invaded the community. A resident was shot during the attack and later passed away at ECWA Hospital, Egbe. His wife and child were reportedly abducted.
This comes just days after two travellers were attacked along the Egbe–Okunran road on November 12. One victim managed to escape, while the other was taken away by the attackers.
Residents say the community has been left vulnerable, alleging there are currently no military or joint security teams stationed in the area, despite earlier assurances from the state government that calm would be restored.
With fear spreading and tension rising, community members are urgently appealing for a sustained and effective security response to curb the escalating attacks and restore confidence in the region.
