Ground forces assess damage, engage fleeing fighters in successful follow-up operation.
Borno State, Nigeria – Troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade have carried out a successful ground operation following an airstrike on terrorist camps in Chonogolo Kura, Borno State, neutralizing one fighter and destroying several hideouts and logistics structures.
The operation, conducted under the umbrella of Operation Hadin Kai, was a follow-up exploitation of an earlier air force strike on the identified enclaves.
According to operational sources, the airstrike targeted terrorist hideouts in the area at approximately 10:40 a.m. on Monday, February 3. By 12:45 p.m., ground troops from the 21 SAB were dispatched to conduct a Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) and exploit the impact of the aerial bombardment.
Upon arrival at the objective, troops confirmed the strike’s significant effect. They observed that while the general area of Chonogolo Kura—known for hosting several new terrorist enclaves—remained active, the remaining fighters fled in disarray upon the troops’ approach.
The ground forces engaged the location, neutralizing one terrorist and proceeding to destroy the identified camps and logistical assets, further degrading operational capabilities in the zone.
This coordinated air-ground action underscores the sustained pressure being applied to terrorist elements in the Northeast, systematically dismantling their safe havens and disrupting their activities.
