The Kogi State Government has announced immediate temporary restrictions on commercial activities in parts of Kogi West Senatorial District as part of an intensified security operation aimed at dismantling criminal networks.
In a statement issued today, the government directed the closure of selected markets and motor parks across multiple local government areas, including Lokoja, Kabba-Bunu, Yagba West, Yagba East, Kogi, and Mopamuro. The move is designed to disrupt the logistics and mobility of armed groups, particularly bandits and kidnappers, who have recently targeted communities in the region.
The closures are part of a broader tactical operation that has already yielded a significant victory: the successful rescue of 16 kidnapped victims from a bandit camp in the area. The government reaffirmed its strict no-ransom policy, emphasizing that security forces are mandated to use tactical and intelligence-led means to secure releases.
