The Kogi State Government has issued a strong warning to youths in Okunland, cautioning them against collaborating with kidnappers and bandits. The government stated that anyone found aiding these criminals would be treated as a terrorist.
The warning came from the State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara (rtd), during a briefing at the palace of the Elegbe of Egbe, Oba Ayodele Irukera. The meeting was part of the ongoing efforts to address insecurity in Kogi West.
According to Commodore Omodara, intelligence reports indicate that some Okun youths are providing direct support to bandits by transporting food, weapons, and acting as informants. He also alleged that some women are involved in supplying items and information to the criminals.
Omodara emphasized that anyone caught collaborating with these criminal elements will face the full force of the law. He urged community members to actively resist and report any form of aid to bandits.
In a call for a more positive direction, the Security Adviser encouraged Okun youths to channel their energy into agriculture, highlighting the state government’s significant investments in farming inputs and opportunities.
“Enough is enough,” Omodara declared. “Our people must take their destiny into their hands and protect their land.”
This stern warning serves as a clear message that the state government is committed to rooting out all forms of criminal support networks and will not tolerate any collaboration with bandits and kidnappers within its borders.
