There is growing tension within the Federal Civil Service following the abduction of six directors from the Federal Ministry of Defence by suspected gunmen along the Kabba–Lokoja highway.
The disturbing incident, which reportedly occurred on the busy interstate route linking Kogi’s Kabba axis to Lokoja, has sent shockwaves through government circles and reignited fears over the worsening insecurity across Nigeria’s highways.
According to security sources, a joint military and police operation has been launched to track down the abductors and rescue the kidnapped officials. However, as of the time of filing this report, details of the victims’ identities and the circumstances of the attack remain sketchy.
