Studio owner reports incident after discovering bodies; no visible signs of violence observed.
Lagos, Nigeria – The Lagos State Police Command has provided new details surrounding the deaths of four gospel artistes at a studio in the Ajah area, confirming that the studio owner reported the incident after discovering their bodies.
According to police statements, Akintayo Akinbola—who owns the studio and is the husband of the event organizer—informed authorities that he left the artistes in the studio on Tuesday night after purchasing food for them. When he returned around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, the studio door was locked from the inside.
After forcing the door open, Akinbola found the four artistes lifeless inside. Police detectives who visited the scene reported no visible marks of violence on the bodies.
The deceased have been moved to the Mainland General Hospital mortuary in Yaba for autopsy, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
The organizer of the birthday praise event, who is also the wife of the studio owner, is currently in police custody as part of the ongoing probe.
The incident continues to raise questions about the circumstances leading to the simultaneous deaths, with many awaiting the results of the autopsy and the police investigation.
