Attack on JIBWIS leader’s home in Digare town sparks fear, outrage amid worsening insecurity.
Digare, Bauchi State – Suspected bandits have struck again under the cover of darkness, this time targeting the home of a prominent Islamic cleric in what residents are calling a brazen and terrifying attack.
Late Saturday night, armed assailants stormed the residence of Imam Abubakar Muhammad Digare, the Chief Imam of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) in Digare town, Gwana District, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The attackers forcefully abducted several members of the cleric’s household, including his wives and daughters, whisking them away to an unknown location.
The shocking incident has sent waves of fear through the local Muslim community and reignited concerns over the worsening security crisis affecting many parts of the country. Digare, like many rural communities in Bauchi and across northern Nigeria, has become increasingly vulnerable to banditry and kidnapping.
As of the time of this report, no group has claimed responsibility, and security agencies have not issued an official statement regarding rescue efforts.
The attack on a respected religious leader has deepened public anguish. Many are left asking: How long will bandits continue these atrocities against the Muslim Ummah and Nigerians at large, and when will decisive action finally bring an end to this persistent insecurity?
